I have always seen Christmas as having a completely different significance than the accepted doctrine as taught by the mainstream churches. For sure, it is about a birth, but not just a literal one. The birth of the human baby ultimately named Yeshua (Jesus) is only one level of interpretation and one (relatively simple) way of understanding one of the most wondrous events in the history of our world.

At a deeper, more mystical level this Birth is archetypal (if you are interested you might like to investigate the so-called Isis/Osiris/Horus ‘myths’ - versions of which have existed in all ages and all cultures, ensuring that all levels of mystical wisdom are always available to seekers of truth). It signifies the ushering in of the new/old idea of awakening to our true nature, and to the life that is reality, rather than just the very convincing illusion that consumes our days on earth.

Because this Idea is likely to be unpopular, or seen to exist out on the weird fringe of ideas it is only accessible to those with ‘ears’ to hear, and ‘eyes’ to see. Most often this Idea runs counter to accepted wisdom (religious, political or cultural). In some quarters it is seen as heretical, subversive, or both. Some, who have deeply entrenched vested interests in maintaining the status quo may even regard it as dangerous.

It may be diminished, ridiculed and even attacked but it can never truly be destroyed. It may be required to undergo a crucifixion process, just because it is so radical and so incompatible with conventional wisdom, but it always rises from the ashes of anger, hatred and fear, unharmed and transformed with new power and presence to inspire and encourage us to detach ourselves from the drama of our human lives and look beneath the surface of things.

In the spirit of this Birth, in the understanding that despite all that is going on ‘out there’ in the physical world - as this world teeters on the brink of enormous shift and change - that, in truth, all is well, I send you all love, peace and Christmas blessings.
