I was recently asked this question about the nature and effects of reincarnation.
The question itself rests on the premise that time is important, hence it is assumed that a two million year old soul is innately different to one that is “younger.” However, time is irrelevant. Quantum physics has shown that time is illusory, completely determined by the projection of the person perceiving the passing of time.
Further, the notion of a two million year old soul implies one that incarnates serially and sequentially as years pass. However there is scientific proof to suggest that we actually have parallel lives in what seems to be a multiverse. In other words, a soul incarnates in various forms and on different dimensions simultaneously.
Brian Greene, professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University provides the mathematical proof for this in his book The Hidden Reality: Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos. He writes:
“…in each such universe, there’s a copy of you witnessing one of the other outcome, thinking - incorrectly - that your reality is the only reality…It says that there is no such thing as a road untraveled. Yet each such road - each reality - is hidden from all others.”
The only significance of the notion of an “old soul” is the meaning and wisdom we have gleaned as a result of our experience. As with all things, experience is key to knowledge, understanding and wisdom but not necessarily synonymous with them. It conceivable to have experience that produces none of these.
The benefits available to an “old soul” is that experience has taught us what is true, real and of value, and that none of these is sourced in the physical realm. This is an enormous help in seeing through the lie of the projected reality of the physical realm, leading us to understand that all cause exists at the non-physical level of being with the physical realm being only effect.
This changes everything. If we see the physical as effect, rather than cause, we understand that the remedy or change must exist at the level of cause. We understand that to restrict our efforts to heal and grow to the manipulation of physical phenomena is a fruitless pursuit. The “old soul” knows this and is able to avoid wasting time having to learn this again.
